Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency

“A thumping good detective-ghost-horror-who dunnit-time travel-romantic-musical-comedy-epic” – The Author

It wasn’t until the series came on Netflix that I remembered how much I loved this book. Even though the two only seem to have a main character in common. As most things concocted by Douglas Adams the humour is hugely in the absurdity of it all. The recent show feels like a fever dream mash up of doctor who and Scott Pilgrim.

I didn’t know this until I googled the book to get the above photo, but Dirk Gently began its life as an episode of the amazing long running and much beloved Doctor Who television program.  To be honest I’ve fallen out of love with the good Doctor in the last few years. I just got bored with it, and was unable to get passed newest regeneration. Dirk Gently (the show) is a good replacement. Plus there is a really cute dog.

Happy Galentine’s Day

What is Galentine’s Day?

“Well it is only the best day of the year, every February 13th my lady friends and I leave our husbands and boyfriends at home and we just come kick it breakfast style. Ladies celebrating ladies. It’s like Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus frittatas!”

I would like to take this opportunity to encourage you all to tell your lady friends how much you love and appreciate them.

Pushing Daisies

Hands down the best television romance EVER.

I personally believe that for a tv romance to work there has to be a hefty dose of will they / won’t they in the mix. And that shows have a tendency to die after the couple couples. In the case of pushing daisies, one of them actually will die if they even touch.

It was a quirky, funny, vivid show that was canceled far, far too soon.

I hate when a story goes unfinished.

Valentine’s Day

I would like to start by stating that my boyfriend and I do not celebrate Valentine’s Day. It is not because we are unromantic or cynical. It is because it’s Max’s birthday.

Since I have all of this pent up Valentines Day energy, I’m going to create a series of posts about romance.

Love songs, rom-coms, billowy romance novels, tragic love stories, my first crush… all things I will discuss over the 14 days leading up to the  big day.

I love love stories in all their forms, what can I say I am a big old sap.

MTV I love you, but you’re bringing me down.

Another productive day lost to trashy reality tv. I could have finished one of the two books I have on the go. Or done laundry. Or worked on my writing.

But instead I watch 2 whole seasons of 16 and Pregnant.

How did I find myself watching 16 and Pregnant you ask…

Well I love a little show called Teen Mom 2.

I wanted to see how all these ridiculous young women got their start in the world of reality television.

I was enraptured. I got up only to pee and walk Dee (who was into it just as much as I was)

And then all of a sudden it was hours later and me and Dee had been through all of the heart break and drama that comes with being irresponsible with out ever having to leave our couch.

See that is the thing I love about garbage tv, I don’t have that life. But I can live in it for a while.

No guilty pleasures here. I proudly profess that I love MTV reality show.
